This morning I was thinking about Christmas.
Then I looked over at "Ellie" our family farm dog, that on cold days gets a coveted spot inside the back door.
She will lay there for hours.....oblivious to all around her.She is content to sleep through the day.
I do not want to "sleep" through Christmas this year...unaware of what God is doing all around me. I want to be an active participant in bringing joy to others in the midst of their loneliness, hurt and pain. My desire is to offer comfort, care and cheer. What that will look like...well, it might be a smile offered to the haggard clerk at the store. Food bought for the local food pantry. A thank-you and money in the "bell ringers" bucket. I do not have to worry about "how"...God is creative....HE will give me all kinds of opportunities not to "sleep" through HIS birthday celebration this year!
And more than anything, what I want for Christmas....is more of JESUS!

ReplyDeleteSo happy I found your blog and appreciate all your insightfulness! Christmas Blessings to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI hope we're all awake and aware of the gifts we're given this Christmas and every day.
ReplyDeleteWell said. I decided to try something a little different this year and it is blessing me so much.
ReplyDeleteWe are doing something different this year with our 4 children too. Gifts from the heart... not the wallet. And although I tried to get them to go with just a Nativity scene and no tree this year-- I lost and we have a tree but the reason for the season is more prevalent this year in our home.
